ASCAMM Association, with the objective of meeting the needs of the mold and die sector, will train 30 new professionals with the collaboration of the Eurecat Foundation.

The mold and die sector, after overcoming the long crisis that reduced the number of companies in the sector, has been recovering progressively in the last 5 years, and has already accumulated a sustained growth of 43% from the historical low of 2010. This Growth has been accompanied by an increase in exports of molds and matrices, which has also grown more than 40% over its minimums. It should be noted that mold and matrix exports exceed imports from low-cost countries. The high quality of molds and dies designed and manufactured in Catalonia is recognized in the main European client countries and in other growing countries such as Mexico.

This growth of companies has been in machinery and specialized personnel, which has already been exhausted and can only provide new staff through training. In December 2016, ASCAMM began the course of Chip Cutting, which lasts for 630 hours and will form 15 students.

In January 2017, a course of Abrasion, E-Mech- eration and Other Special Procedures (CNC) has been started, with a duration of 630 hours and 15 more students. All students who participated in these training actions have been selected with the aim of maintaining a high quality training level. These two courses will be fully funded by the Generalitat de Catalunya through its Form i Insereix line, which requires a minimum insertion of 60% of the students graduated.

These two courses are intended to incorporate new professionals and / or to retrain staff from the metallurgical sector in mechanization, with both conventional and CNC machines. The two training actions are aimed at unemployed people and have no costs for the participants or for the companies. For more information you can contact Domènec Pijuan dpijuan@ascamm.org
